My thoughts about : Losing yourself and how to get a help

I just finished watching 13 reasons why and if you don't know what that it is, here's the plot :

Thirteen Reasons Why follows the story of Clay Jensen, as he returns home from school to find a mysterious package on his bed. When he opens it, he finds seven cassette tapes. Upon inserting them into his family’s cassette player, he discovers were recorded by Hannah Baker, a girl that he went to school with who recently committed suicide. Her instructions are clear: each person who receives a package is one of the reasons why she killed herself, and after each person has completed listening to the tapes, they must pass the package on to the next person. If anyone decides to break the chain, a separate set of tapes will be released to the public

If you guys think that I'm only following the trend and writing this post, I'm not. Suicide among teen has been an issue which is important to me.

Basically, its about a girl who killed herself and release tapes afterwards to her "killer". I know that suicide among teen is not a common problem in Indonesia and I hope it wont be but there are several cases which pops up. First of all, suicide among teen is common because of bullying. Whether its verbal or physical, its still bullying. Bullying happens sometimes without people realize it. When you mock your friend, that's count as bullying. When you spread rumours about someone, that's count as bullying too. You'll never know that a simple words could end someone's life.

Second, suicide among teen happens because they think that they're out of place. High school is a place where you'll find everyone judging everything that you do, you'll never feel that you're good enough. Friends betray each other and lovers hurt each other. Other than that, your grades will define whether you'll have a future or not. Let me tell you something, it doesn't matter what the society thinks about you. It doesn't matter whether you're popular or not, you're the only one who can think what's the best for you, people don't have the rights to decide your pathway. Be a nerd, read books, study all night long, that's okay if you think its fine. Be popular, go to parties, join some events, that's okay if you think its fine. As long as you don't hurt anyone around you or yourself. Your grades will not define who you are, if you have a shitty mathematics or social grades but you're great at art, that's okay.

The other reason why suicide happens to teen is because they thought no one will hear their cries and no one will listen. We always have secret that we keep to each other but sometimes, we want to let those secrets out but we don't have anyone that would listen. Until, suicide is probably the only option. If you're in a state where you feel you're tired of your life, talk to someone. Your friend, your parents, or the suicide hotline.

I know some of my acquaintance who did cutting on their wrist, people around me keep saying that they were just searching for some attention but you know what? they're searching for a way to release their thoughts. I'm not saying that it is a right thing to do but if they have someone to talk to, they probably wouldn't cut their wrist.

My point is, suicide is not an option. Ending your life is not an option. You will only die but what about the people you left behind? the people who loves you ? the one who care about you?

Talk to someone, find help. I'll be here to help if you need someone to talks to.
